Databases
- MEDLINE
Search Medline to locate articles on clinical drug topics: clinical
trials, adverse effects, dosage, routes of administration. Medline
is produced by the National Library of Medicine, Medline is the premier bibliographic database covering the fields of medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, and the
pre-clinical sciences.
Medline contains bibliographic citations and author abstracts from more than 4,300 biomedical journals published in the United States and 70 other countries.
- IPA (International Pharmaceutical Abstracts)
Search IPA to locate articles on pharmacy practice, pharmaceutical
education, patient drug education, pharmceutics, pharmacoeconomics, legal aspects of pharmacy and
medication use, and other issues important to the professional
pharmacist. IPA is produced by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists
(ASHP). ASHP scans over 750 journals published worldwide for information to be added to IPA. All U.S. state pharmacy journals are included as well as most publications on cosmetics.
IPAs coverage of the pharmacy journal literature is better than the
coverage provided by Medline. Because articles about drug research are
primarily published in medical journals, IPA is not a good source of
information about current drug research; however, the journals
indexed in IPA are good sources for overviews about recently approved
drugs.
